Highland Run

Highland Run Fly Fishing Estate is a secluded self-catering retreat within the Mount Anderson Nature Reserve near Mashishing (Lydenburg). Tucked deep within the Spekboom Valley, Highland Run is shaped by the river and surrounded by rolling mountains, indigenous grasslands and pristine river systems, offering a peaceful escape for anglers, outdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers. At the heart of the experience are five kilometres of trout water, flowing through pools, rapids and runs that offer both challenge and reward for fly-fishing enthusiasts. Beyond the river, hiking and cycling trails reveal birdlife, small game and the beauty of the surrounding reserve. Wood-fired hot tubs provide another way to unwind, soaking in the mountain setting after a day outdoors. Two spacious self-catering cottages are serviced daily and provide a comfortable base, with fully equipped kitchens, fireplaces, generous living areas and large windows that keep the landscape close. With little to no mobile reception, Highland Run Fly Fishing Estate invites guests to switch off completely and reconnect with nature in one of Mpumalanga's most scenic wilderness regions.
